Folic Acid+iron+succinimide
About Folic Acid+iron+succinimide
Folic Acid+iron+succinimide belongs to a class of medications called 'haematinics' primarily used to treat anaemia (deficiency of iron and haemoglobin). Its deficiency occurs mainly due to poor diet, poor absorption of food or increased folate use in the body (in pregnancy). Anaemia is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells for carrying adequate oxygen required to various body tissues.
Folic Acid+iron+succinimide is a combination of three drugs, namely; Folic acid, Iron (haematinics combination) and Succinimide primarily used to treat anaemia. Folic acid is a vitamin B that helps the body make more red blood cells and helps the red blood cells carry out more oxygenated blood to other tissues of the body. Iron is a necessary mineral in the body needed by red blood cells to carry oxygen to other body cells and tissues. By combining with a protein called haemoglobin, it helps in attracting oxygen in the lugs. Succinimide works by promoting good health and muscle development.
Take Folic Acid+iron+succinimide as advised by your physician. You are advised to take Folic Acid+iron+succinimide for as long as your physician has recommended it for you, depending upon your medical condition. You may experience constipation, dry mouth, loss of appetite, bloating, diarrhoea in some cases. Most of these side effects of Folic Acid+iron+succinimide do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your physician.
If you have or ever had stomach/intestinal problems (e.g., ulcers, colitis), use/abuse of alcohol, vitamin B12 deficiency (pernicious anaemia), please inform your physician before taking Folic Acid+iron+succinimide to avoid any complications. Do not start taking any new medication without telling your physician. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, Folic Acid+iron+succinimide is given to a child under 12 years of age should be given under strict medical supervision.

Medicinal Benefits
Folic Acid+iron+succinimide compromises three medicines, namely: Folic acid, Iron and Succinimide. Folic acid and Iron are important substances required by the body to make more blood cells. Folic acid is a vitamin B that helps the body make more red blood cells and helps the red blood cells carry out more oxygenated blood to other tissues of the body. Iron is an important mineral in the body required by red blood cells to carry oxygen to other body cells and tissues. By combining with a protein called haemoglobin, it helps in attracting oxygen in the lungs. Succinimide works by promoting good health and muscle development.

Disease/Condition Glossary
Anaemia: It is a condition in which the body does not have enough red blood cells for carrying adequate oxygen to various body tissues. Anaemia can be temporary, which can be treated with the help of supplements, and it can also be long-term, which might require medical procedures. It makes you feel tired very quickly due to a lack of oxygen supply in the body. It is one of the most common blood disorder.
Folate deficiency: The deficiency of folic acid in the body is known as folate deficiency. It generally occurs when your diet does not have sufficient food that has more folic acid (citrus fruits, green leafy vegetables). Folate deficiency, if left untreated, can lead to anaemia.
